           5. What do students have to say about Goal Setting?
        • Watch the following two videos and share with a partner how goal setting impacted these students.  The first film was created at the end of the year by a classroom of kindergartners. They filmed it themselves. The second one is a middle school EL student.

6.  Work independently or collaborate in groups to complete your Analyzing
    MAP Class Data report.

      • If you teach middle school or high school, select one period you believe would be best to target this year, based on needs, the number of outliers, or your specific concerns for that class.

7.  Getting Started With Goal Setting:

      • Watch this short video again and note where Jessica's students begin to take the lead in class goal setting as well as any steps you believe you and your students will need to take to set goals:

      • Touring Our Text: Goal Setting for Students and Getting Started
To find our goals and action steps we are fortunate to have the MAP assessment reports and Learning Continuum in our report center:

        • The Lowest Goal Area is easily visible with warning triangles on a chart or on student handouts.
        • What students are ready to learn in the Learning Continuum on our site (including the option to print only the lowest goal area.)
        • All students 3rd grade and above can login and view their personal reports.

     10.  Additional Resources to support tonight's work:
      • Student Led Conferences:  When students set goals and reflect on them, it is easier for them to facilitate conferences with their parents.  Here is an excellent model from Wildwood IB  World Magnet Elementary School in Chicago as posted on the Edutopia website.  If your students lead their conferences and share their goals with their parents, you can videotape one and post it to our discussion board for your implementation of tonight's work.
