What this is:

This third project will require you to engage your audience to motivate them toward a cause. It is a good lesson that will prepare you for telling stories. Take your time to learn the tools and techniques. You'll be glad you did.

What to learn:

Basic techniques in audio, lighting, and composition, but most importantly the skill of storytelling to sell your idea.

What to do:
Create a short 30 or 60 second film about something that concerns you that others should be concerned about. Be clear, specific, and direct; you only have 30 or 60 seconds to do it.

What to complete:
At the end of this project, you will have a video explaining your view in hopes to persuade your audience to be concerned about it as well. The video will consist of the following:

explanation or backstory of your cause/concern
background music
titles and graphics (labels, title, credits)
transitions between each step (straight cuts, dissolves, wipes, etc., but not too many or too many different kinds of transitions)
a voice over OR live actor narration

Appropriate audio, lighting, and composition are always a must.

Complete this project by uploading your final video to Youtube or Vimeo, then submit the shareable link by selecting the SUBMIT ASSIGNMENT link to the right.

Peer Reviews:

At midnight after submitting your assignment, you will be assigned 2 peer reviews to be completed as homework. You will have 2 days to complete the peer reviews from the assignment due date. To complete a peer review, you must come back to this project page and select the name of one of your peers assigned for you to review. You are asked to leave a comment with words of praise or constructive criticism (be sure to hit the save button when done). Be sure to adhere to the conditions of Home Court Advantage noted in the course syllabus.
