What this is:
This project focuses on the basic principles of Anticipation, Follow Through, Arcs, and Secondary Action. Blender has many ways of making these work, and you'll have an opportunity to find the one that works for you.
What to learn:
You will understand the basic principles of Anticipation, Follow Through, Arcs, and Secondary Action. You will learn complex rigging techniques in Blender using the Rigify add-on to help you with the animation.
What to do:
Use the character and rig from the last project to complete this project.
Watch the video below to learn how to use the Rigify addon to make your character walk and perform.
Make your character walk, then run, then perform an interesting secondary action as a result of a second object.
After the secondary action, your character must display an emotion. Think about what your body does when you are sad, or when you are happy, or scared. Try to display that emotion through the movements of your robot as a result of the object causing the secondary action.
Peer Reviews:
At midnight after submitting your assignment, you will be assigned 2 peer reviews to be completed as homework. You will have 2-3 days to complete the peer reviews from the assignment due date. To complete a peer review, you must come back to this project page and select the assigned work of one of your peers for you to review. You are asked to score the work using the rubric (be sure to save your scoring choices) and leave a comment with words of praise and constructive criticism (be sure to hit the save button when done). Be sure to adhere to the conditions of Home Court Advantage noted in the course syllabus.
A good method to follow looks like a sandwich where positive comments are the bread and constructive comments are between the bread.
Tutorials:
Creating the Walk Cycle
Here are video tutorials for more information on the walk and run cycles
Note: Rigify hand paddles DO NOT move with the torso, so you will need to select them when moving the torso
